The Assam government has announced several new plans to improve education in the state. The budget focuses on setting up new universities, colleges, and schools to provide better learning opportunities for students.

Higher Education

• A new Kanaklata University will be set up with a budget of ₹400 crore.
• Dibrugarh Polytechnic (Lahowal) will be upgraded into a full-fledged engineering college.
• New agriculture and veterinary colleges will be established in Karbi Anglong.
• Another agriculture college will be set up in Patharkandi, Sribhumi.
• The Assam Higher Education Funding Scheme will help colleges and universities get loans for building infrastructure.

School Education

• 97 new model schools will be built across Assam.

• 25 Bodo-medium schools will be upgraded.

• To support education for minority communities:

• Nine new women’s colleges will be set up.

• 21 model residential schools will be built.

• Teachers under the Banikanta Kakati Computer Literacy Programme will get:

• Salary increase to ₹20,000 per month.

• Extended service age up to 60 years.

• The government will reform education boards to:

i) Improve exam and assessment quality.

ii) Include digital learning in schools.

iii) Expand scholarship programs for talented students.
